Trying Something New

Life is full of changes both personal and professional. Monday marks a big change for me professionally. Monday I start a new job at a new company. I have had a fair number of changes in my career. I've gone from Java developer, to Oracle Database Administrator, to Oracle Everything Administrator, to Java Developer, to team lead/Developer, and now to a new company as a Software Developer. I really enjoyed my time at UW-Madison. I learned a lot and grew my skills as a software engineer. I also got my hands dirty with some system operations. A great group of people with fun opportunities.

I'm moving to a newish (8 years old) company called Spredfast. The Spredfast social marketing platform sifts through millions of pieces of social content per minute, so brands can participate in individual conversations or amplify relevant content across any digital screen. The platform allows customers to engage in real-time. Combined with comprehensive data, Spredfast creates more interactions between brands and consumers (source). This is a very fun fast moving space that constantly redefines itself. Social networking is the key to success in today's world, and I'm excited to be a part of it. They have an office in Madison, WI so I'll be staying local. Don't worry Madison friends, we are here to stay.

Funny enough the company's headquarters is in Austin, TX, also where Formula 1 is this week. I went last year and I must say Austin is a blast. I'm excited for the opportunity to go down there again but this time on business. Maybe we can coordinate it with a race weekend. That would be ideal.

In other news, fall is in full bloom here in Wisconsin. Last weekend it was perfect. Colors were full, and the temperature was unseasonably 70 degrees. Although I was under the weather, we ventured out for our engagement photos. It was a blast! We had 3 locations: downtown Baraboo, Devil's Lake, and Pewits Nest. I am beyond excited to see how they turned out. I wish I brought my camera with me to Pewits Nest. Alas, just another reason to go back. It was so beautiful. The forest in full fall color mixed with amazing waterfalls gave the pictures a perfect backdrop. Devil's Lake has a special place in our hearts as well. Not only is it amazing to look at, it was the location of our first date many moons ago.

Standing at the middle of the lower path, first date.
That whole area is a great place to be. With rolling hills and parks galore, and a really cute downtown area. We really enjoy it when we go to Baraboo.
